A major energy provider is implementing a consolidated billing system to streamline billing processes for its customers. This system aims to combine multiple services (e.g., electricity, gas) into a single, unified bill, enhancing customer convenience and operational efficiency.

We successfully created a test plan and executed the test cases

Develop a comprehensive test plan outlining the testing strategy, objectives, scope, resources, and timelines. Define test cases and scenarios covering all functional and non-functional aspects of the system. Perform functional testing to verify that the system meets all specified requirements. This includes testing bill generation, account integration, payment processing, and error handling. Conduct integration testing to ensure that the consolidated billing system works seamlessly with other systems (e.g., customer relationship management, payment gateways). Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) with a group of end-users to validate the system’s usability and functionality from a customer’s perspective.

We successfully tracked defects and corrected the issues during the testing phases

Log and track defects identified during testing using a defect tracking tool in ADO. Collaborate with the development team to prioritize and resolve defects. Retest resolved defects to ensure that they have been fixed correctly and have not introduced new issues.

We accurately reported and created documentation for all the functional needs of the project

Document test results, including test cases executed, defects found, and their resolution status. Prepare a final test report summarizing the testing activities, results, and any remaining issues or risks. Provide recommendations for system improvements based on testing findings.

Project results

This regulatory project for a leading utility company electronically filed a letter (Case No. 9461) to the Public Service Commission to pause Supplier Consolidated Billing due to the signing of Senate Bill 1/House Bill 267 – Electricity and Gas – Retail Supply – Regulation and Consumer Protection into law (“SB0001”) by Governor Moore. SB 0001 eliminates the purchase of receivables by providing that electric and gas suppliers who supply residential customers may not sell accounts receivable to electric and gas companies. Purchase of receivables is a main component of SCB and will have significant impacts.
